Institute Updates - Industrial visit of Automobile Engineering Department students at the Bhupendra Crane Service, Mehsana

The Mechanical & Automobile Engineering Department organized an industrial visit for the students of 8th and 6th Semester Automobile Engineering at the  Bhupendra Crane Service, Mehsana on 3rd March 2021.

The purpose of the two visits was to see, understand and get some practical exposure related to the subject ‘Special Purpose Vehicles’ which 8th & 6th Semester Automobile Engineering students are currently studying. The Cranes is a big unit and study topic of the subject so we decided to visit the company to get the practical knowledge regarding these special purpose vehicles especially cranes.

The crane has been a part of the working landscape since its invention in ancient Greece and is still considered as an essential piece of equipment for heavy construction work and lifting tasks of all kinds. It is equipped with cables and pulleys, and based upon the application of fundamental mechanical principles, a crane can lift and lover loads well beyond the capabilities of human construction workers. Crane design has evolved to meet the demands of a variety of industrial needs and modern cranes often coordinate simple systems to achieve complex lifting tasks – sometimes in environments which would be dangerous for human workers.

The company is the leading in the sector of Crane Service in Gujarat. Bhupendra has been giving its services since 2005. The Company owns 45 units Crane from 20 tons to 500 tons & 15 trailers. They also do repairs and service of Japanese, Chinese, German make and all other kind of Cranes in any range. Their Crane engineers and crane technicians are trained in electrical, electronic, hydraulic and mechanical crane repairs. Their crane engineers can carry out all aspects of work on Liebherr cranes. They showed us various crane models available there and explained their operations, all the main components of cranes and discussed how the cranes are selected for specific job. They told while placing a crane on the job site which criteria should be fulfilled to carry out crane work and explained the working and operations of different types of cranes in more practical way which really helped the students to understand the subject effectively. Then they showed us different engines lying on their workshop and told how their mechanics and technicians work on making new cranes from the scrape. It was a wonderful visit and students have learnt a lot about the Cranes and its operations.
