Institute Updates - Industrial visit of Automobile Engineering Department students at the Starline Tractors (Tafe)

The Mechanical & Automobile Engineering Department organized an industrial visit for the students of 8th and 6th Semester Automobile Engineering at the  Starline Tractors (Tafe) on 3rd March 2021.

 The objective of the visit was to see, understand and get some practical exposure related to the subject ‘Special Purpose Vehicles’ which the 8th & 6th Semester Automobile Engineering students are currently studying. The Tractor is a big unit and study topic of the subject so we decided to visit the company to get the practical knowledge regarding these special purpose vehicles especially Tractors. 

Tractor is a self propelled power unit having wheels or tracks for operating agricultural implements and machines including trailers. Tractor engine is used as a prime mover for active tools and stationary farm machinery through power-take off (PTO) or belt pulley.

The company is dealing with Massey Ferguson tractors which is an England based MNC and it is a big name in tractor industry. In India it is operated by joint venture with Tafe tractors. During the visit, Mr. Vishnubhai Prajapati (Service Engineer) nicely explained everything about the tractors practically. They showed various parts and systems of tractors like air filter system, radiator system, engine system, clutch and gearbox systems etc. They explained about the sysnchroshuttle gearbox for full speed reverse mechanism as well showed the braking systems of tractors and explained its working. Moreover, they explained the three point linkage (hitch) which is used for various attachments for tractors applications and explained the working PTO and gearbox, differential and locking differential gear box, steering system worm and worm wheel and hydraulic pump system. All the students have really enjoyed and learned by the visits and got good knowledge.
